GOLDEN OLDIES

In the early Sixties (long before we heard of the Beatles), Joe Albergo III was the lead singer of a Doo-Wop group called 'The Wonders.'

And these five handsome guys were pretty darn good. Wearing their trademark burgundy tuxedo jackets, these young singers performed all over Bay Ridge, Brooklyn at popular night spots and high school dances, as well as dozens of private parties and charity events.

They always looked cool and sang even better... and that's a fact Jack.

Joe also played electric guitar and even got a chance to make three demo's with 'The Wonders' at Decca Records' recording studio in Manhattan. One song was a great remake of "World on a String."

You may think of a movie called "That Thing You Do" which Tom Hanks directed and appeared in. Hanks played a record producer who took an interest in a rock group called 'The Wonders' and helped them get their first hit song. But it has nothing to do with the original guys from 76th Street. Just a coincidence.

Gee... maybe Tom owes us some royalties.
